THE STORY SO FAR: WORLD CLIMBING SERIES RANKINGS

As the World Climbing Series 2026 continues on, now is a good time to check in on the overall rankings, presented by Euroholds

With regards to events, the Boulder discipline is the furthest along in the series with four competitions complete – Keqiao, China; Bern, Switzerland; Madrid, Spain; and Prague, Czechia.

For both Lead and Speed, they are two events into their 2026 programme having both kicked things off in Wujiang, China before Speed visited Madrid and Lead the latest competition to finish in Prague.

BOULDER

With Boulder having the most points available so far, this is where we start.

In 2023, Sorato Anraku broke onto the scene taking the Boulder and the Lead series titles – since then, he has won every Boulder series title. In 2026 you would not bet against him after taking an unprecedented four gold golds from the four events for a total of a perfect 4000 points.

His closest rivals with the unenviable task to chase him down is Mejdi Schalck in second with 2535 points and Dohyun Lee with 2405 points.

Fourth currently is Hannes Van Duysen and Colin Duffy is just behind in fifth with 1600 points.

The women’s competition is a little tighter as all four golds have been won by different climbers.

One of those winners is Erin McNeice who currently sits top with 2935 points, but Oce Mackenzie, who is having a very consistent series so far, is just behind in second on 2780 points. Mackenzie is another one of those four gold medallists.

When you talk about consistent series results, Melody Sekikawa is up there. She may not have won a gold just yet, but high finishes and finals appearances have given her 2415 points to sit third.

Annie Sanders won the latest gold in Prague as part of her double winning exploits, and she sits fourth with 2300 points.

Oriane Bertone is fifth with 2015 points and teammate Zélia Avezou is sixth with 1780 points. Avezou is the other climber to win gold this series, but she did skip the Madrid event.

LEAD

Sorato Anraku is four from four in men’s Boulder, and halfway to that feat in women’s Lead is Annie Sanders who won both of the two events so far in Wujiang and Prague. She sits top with 2000 points.

Chaehyun Seo is second with 1495 points with two podium finishes so far – one silver and one bronze. She has a total of 1495 points.

Zélia Avezou podiumed for the first time in Lead in Prague which has helped her total of 1015 points and third place currently.

USA’s Ella Fisher is having a bit of a breakthrough this season finishing just outside the final places in Wujiang but making it through in Prague for her first appearance. She is fourth with 925 points and just ahead of Jessica Pilz in fifth with 910 points.

Two winners in the men’s Lead series so far, and they sit first and second currently.

Neo Suzuki is top with 1805 points because he added a silver medal to his gold in Wujiang.

In second thanks to some history in Prague, Indonesia’s Putra Tri Ramadani has 1380 points. His win in Prague was the first gold outside of the Speed climbing discipline for his country.

No surprise to see Sorato Anraku up high in the Lead series standings either. Two finals appearances has given the Japanese climber 1155 points to sit third currently.

Last year Alberto Ginés López was a model of consistency to take the overall title, and he started well with a silver medal in Wujiang. The Spanish Olympic gold medalllist will be hoping a slip in the Prague semi-final was just a blip. He sits fourth with 1105 points.

Another climbing making an error in Prague was Satone Yoshida. An uncharacteristic double tap on the start meant he finished in eighth in the final, but he still sits in fifth on the series rankings with 1025 points.

SPEED

One of the reasons we love Speed is its unpredictability. It’s either you against the clock or you one on one with an opponent. You need to be at your best all the time – and this can be seen the women’s series rankings.

Aleksandra Kalucka and Emma Hunt or the two gold medallists so far this season, and neither is in the top five because of missing finals in the other event. The big points are in the finals, and that’s where the series will be won or lost.

Currently in first is Shaoqin Zhang with 1235 points, helped by a bronze medal in Madrid.

Second is Ukraine’s Polina Khalkevych who won her first medal, also in Madrid when she took silver, which boosted her score to 1155 points.

There is one Kalucka in the top of the overall with Natalia sitting on 1105 points. She hasn’t quite got the podium yet, but a fourth and sixth have put her right up into the top three.

Desak Dewi is fourth on 1070 points and Yuju Mou is fifth on 1065 points.

China holds the one and two spots in the men’s Speed with Shouhong Chu collecting 1205 points in first and Jianguo Long getting 1130 points for second. Chu is one of the two competition winners so far when he won in Madrid.

USA’s Michael Hom is third overall on 1105 points finishing fourth and sixth so far, and Raharjati Nursamsa is fourth overall with 1090 points from to fifth place finishes.

Back to the Chinese climbers in fifth and sixth with Jie Yang on 1070 points and Wujiang gold medallist and world record holder Yicheng Zhao on 1000 points – he didn’t compete in Madrid so just has one scoring event to his name.
