Athletes Resources

Athletes are at the heart of World Climbing’s mission, governance, and sporting activities. World Climbing is committed to ensuring that athletes are able to practise their sport in a safe, fair, inclusive, and transparent environment, and that their rights, wellbeing, and voices are meaningfully embedded across all levels of the organisation.

This commitment is reflected in World Climbing’s regulatory framework, governance structures, and operational policies, which aim to promote integrity, non-discrimination, safeguarding, health protection, and athlete representation within decision-making processes. Athletes are represented at multiple levels of the organisation, including within commissions and advisory structures, ensuring that active athletes can contribute directly to the development of the sport.

As part of this approach, the IOC Athletes’ Declaration was formally adopted by vote of the World Climbing General Assembly on 15 March 2019. The Declaration articulates shared principles, rights, and responsibilities that guide the relationship between athletes, National Federations, and World Climbing, and serves as a reference point for policies and initiatives affecting athletes.
