WORLD CLIMBING SERIES 2026 QUOTAS CONFIRMED FOR NATIONAL FEDERATIONS

The Federation has outlined the athlete entry limits for the upcoming season.

World Climbing has published the National Federation quotas for the World Climbing Series 2026, outlining the maximum number of additional athletes that each team may register at Series events throughout the season.

All National Federations are entitled to register two athletes per medal event as a base allocation. The newly released document specifies how many additional athletes each National Federation may enter, up to a maximum of six per medal event: two as a base, plus up to four additional quotas.

In total, 27 National Federations earned at least one additional quota for the 2026 season, slightly fewer than the 30 teams that qualified in 2025.

QUOTA SYSTEM AND ALLOCATION CRITERIA

Additional quotas are allocated based on the top 40 positions in each medal event of the World Ranking, awarding points from performances at World Cups, World Championships, and Continental Cups. This ensures that quotas reflect consistent results across the international calendar, as the system is designed to reward consistency while maintaining balanced field sizes and broad international representation across the World Climbing Series.

The USA secured 17 additional quotas, reaching the maximum allocation in women’s Boulder and women’s Speed. Italy followed closely with 15 additional quotas, achieving full allocations in men’s Lead and men’s Speed.

The complete document, including a detailed breakdown by National Federation and discipline, is available on the World Climbing website.
