Boulder, Lead and Speed crown new champions of Brazil youth climbing
The 2026 Brazilian Youth Climbing Championship concluded after five days of competition, bringing together Brazil's leading U15, U17 and U19 climbers.
The event featured challenging problems and closely contested rounds, with athletes demonstrating technical ability, creativity and composure throughout the competition.
BOULDER
In the women's competition, U17 athletes dominated the overall standings, with Milena Martins taking the overall title ahead of Julia Uezu and Julia Izzo. Mel Brizante claimed the U19 title, while Jasmine Kohoutova won the U15 category.
On the men's side, Luís Guilherme Ziolkowski claimed the overall title, finishing ahead of Aitor Amaya and Emmanuel Gallina. Pedro Damasceno secured the U17 title, while Nico Amaya topped the U15 category.
The championship once again highlighted the depth of Brazil's youth climbing program, with strong performances across all age groups and several young athletes competing successfully against older climbers.

Qualification rounds featured strong performances across all age groups, with several categories remaining undecided until the final climbs. In the U15 women's event, Jasmine Kohoutova claimed the national title ahead of Luisa Ferro and Ana Pantoja after a tightly contested final. International guest Fernanda Ibaceta recorded the highest climb of the final but was not eligible for the Brazilian title.
One of the highlights of the competition came in the women's overall standings, where U17 athletes Julia Izzo, Julia Uezu and Luiza Fagionato swept the overall podium ahead of the older U19 competitors. Mel Brizante claimed the U19 title. In the men's competition, Luís Guilherme Ziolkowski won both the overall and U19 titles, while Raul Nedochetko topped the U17 category and finished second overall, ahead of Aitor Amaya in third.
The championship highlighted the depth of Brazil's emerging climbing talent, with closely matched performances throughout the qualification, semifinal and final rounds.

SPEED
The Speed competition brought the 2026 Brazilian Youth Climbing Championship to a close with a national record and standout performances from Brazil's next generation of speed climbers.
Eighteen-year-old Rachel Uezu was the standout performer of the event, winning the women's overall title and setting a new Brazilian Speed record of 10.47 seconds, lowering the previous mark by two hundredths of a second. Rachel also claimed the U19 title, while Valentina Ribas and Bianca Melo completed the overall podium as the top U17 athletes.
In the men's competition, Davi Santiago claimed the overall title after defeating U19 winner Caio Farias in the final. Pietro Zatta finished third overall, while Lucas Dornelles and Manuela Contiero secured the U15 titles.
The championship highlighted the rapid progression of Speed climbing in Brazil, with increasingly competitive times and a new generation of athletes already challenging national standards.
