The second event of the World Climbing Europe Youth Series took place at the Bloc House in Graz, Austria, one of the most iconic stops of the European circuit. A total of 314 athletes – 166 men, 148 women – competed in Boulder across two age categories: under 17 and under 19.
ITALY AND THE HOST NATION SHINE
Italy was the leading team of the weekend, claiming gold in two of the four medal events, and another bronze medal. Emiliano Zingrini took the men's U17 title with 74.9 points, finishing ahead of Slovenia's Lovro Tomažin and compatriot Pietro Franzoni.
In the U19 men's event, Giovanni Bagnoli won his second consecutive gold of the season with 84.9 points. Israel’s Gefen Levi and Germany’s Jonas Körner completed the podium in second and third place, respectively.
CALVIN DEL FRESNO AND RAUTER TAKE WOMEN'S GOLDS
Spain's Celia Calvin del Fresno claimed the women's U17 title in a tightly contested final, with a margin of just 0.2 points separating the entire podium. The Spanish climber closed with 84.5 points, France’s Lisa Guidoni placed second with 84.4, and Bulgaria’s Yeva Stienkova took third place with 84.3.
In the U19 women's event, Austria's Jakoba Rauter won gold with 69.9 points, making it two-out-of-two to start the season and giving the host nation a home victory. Mara Matutinović of Croatia won silver, and Loreto Peinado Franganillo of Spain won bronze.
