Austria, Israel, Italy, and Switzerland all won golds in Hungary

The World Climbing Europe Youth Championship took place in Sukoró, Hungary, with 418 young athletes from 36 European nations competing in Boulder across three age categories: under 17, under 19, and under 21.

SIX BOULDER CHAMPIONS EMERGE IN HUNGARY

Switzerland’s Amélie Kägi claimed the women’s U17 title with a dominant 99.7-point performance, topping all four boulders, while Italy’s Leonardo Donola won men’s U17 gold on countback after finishing tied with teammate Pietro Franzoni on 99.4 points.

In the U19 categories, Austria’s Jakoba Rauter continued her impressive 2026 campaign by securing gold with 83.9 points in the women’s event, while Israel’s Itamar Harel topped the men’s standings with 68.9 points.

The U21 titles went to Slovakia’s Martina Buršíková, who scored 69.4 points to win the women’s event. Israel’s Tomer Yakobovitch, who took men’s gold with 69.1 points.

MEDAL TABLE

Five different nations celebrated gold medals in Sukoró, with Israel the only team to win more than one title. The Israeli squad collected two golds, one silver, and one bronze to finish first in the medal table. Italy and Switzerland followed in second and third place respectively, while nine nations in total earned at least one medal.

YOUTH SERIES TITLE AWARDED

Alongside the Championship medals, Sukoró also marked the conclusion of the 2026 World Climbing Europe Youth Series in the Boulder discipline.

Trophies were awarded to the top-ranked athletes in each age category across the three-event season—Soure, Portugal; Graz, Austria; and Sukoró, Hungary – rewarding the most consistent performers of the year.

The next European youth events on the calendar are the Youth Series competition in Dornbirn, Austria, on 4 and 5 July, and the Championship in Barcelona, Spain, from 17 to 19 July.
