WORLD CLIMBING SERIES PRESENTED IN MADRID

Climbers and dignitaries welcomed media to an official presentation in Alcobendas for this season’s World Climbing Series Comunidad de Madrid 2026

The World Climbing Series Comunidad de Madrid 2026 will be the second successive time the annual competition will be hosted in the Spanish capital, and this year will feature Boulder and Speed.

In anticipation of the event, an official presentation was held to bring together the organisers; World Climbing, the Spanish Federation of Mountain Sports and Climbing (FEDME) and Prensa Ibérica, with the support of the Superior Council of Sports, the Community of Madrid and the City of Alcobendas.

With the goal of consolidating its place as a location for high-level sporting events, the Community of Madrid will play host once again with the venue changed to the esplanade of the José Caballero Municipal Sports Center which offers more space for people wanting to watch the international event.

Attending the presentation was CEO of Prensa Ibérica Aitor Moll, Director Director of Sports for the Community of Madrid Alberto Tomé, Sports Councilor of Alcobendas City Council Jesús Tortosa Alameda, FEDME President Bernat Clarella Biarge, President of the Madrid Mountaineering and Climbing Federation José Luis Rubayo, and CEO of B3 Sportainment Finuco Martínez.

World Climbing President Marco Scolaris was unable to attend but sent a video message in which he said: “Almost a year has passed since those magical days spent in the climbing theatre of Alcobendas, and we still carry in our memories the great challenges on the wall between the athletes and the enthusiasm of the Madrid crowd. 

“We can’t wait to return and live again those great emotions and share those emotions.”

Guillermo Peinado, one of the Spanish climbers in attendance, said: "I get goosebumps every time I think about having a World Climbing Series event once again here in Alcobendas."

The World Climbing Series Comunidad de Madrid 2026 will take place on 28-31 May.
