Executive Board prioritises safety and wellbeing of National Federations and their representatives
Following an exceptional meeting of its Executive Board on 4 March 2026, World Climbing has decided that its General Assembly 2026, originally scheduled to take place in person in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will be held in a fully virtual format.
The decision was taken after consultation with the Saudi Climbing and Hiking Federation (SCHF) and careful consideration of the current situation in West Asia. The safety and wellbeing of National Federations and their representatives remain the organisation’s top priority.
The General Assembly will take place virtually on Thursday 23 April 2026. Further practical details and the final agenda will be shared in the coming weeks. The agenda will be limited to statutory items requiring reporting and approval, while discursive sessions will be deferred to the Climbing Summit in December 2026.
The in-person General Assembly in Riyadh has been postponed to April 2027, in recognition of the efforts made by the SCHF. Confirmed dates will be communicated as soon as possible.
