The World Climbing Executive Board have lifted the suspension of the Russian and Belarusian Federations at their latest meeting which took place in Torino, Italy on 10 and 11 February.
Initially suspended in March 2022, the two member federations have now been reinstated following a letter of confirmation to the respective Presidents.
The decision, that has been communicated to all World Climbing National Federations, lifts the suspension placed on the Russian (CFR) and Belarusian Federations (BACF), while maintaining the following provisions:
1. To allow the participation of athletes and team officials with Russian and Belarusian passports in international competitions under the Neutral Athletes Policy in place.
2. To not allow the organisation of international events in Russia and Belarus until further notice.
The programme of the next World Climbing General Assembly Riyadh 2026 in April will include a dedicated session to address the topic of the role of sport and International Federations in the broader geopolitical context.
