National titles were up for grabs in all three disciplines at the 46th South Korea National Climbing Championship
Held in Gunsan on 20-22 March, the 2026 national champions of South Korea were crowned in Lead, Boulder and Speed with Chaehyun Seo and Hyunseung Noh the headline makers both taking two gold medals.
Seo won both the women’s Lead and the Boulder competitions to make it a golden double. She was joined by silver medallist Chaeyeong Kim and bronze medallist Jain Kim on the Lead podium while silver medallist Heeju Noh and bronze medallist Yejoo Seo completed the Boulder podium.
For the men, Hyunseung Noh won in Lead ahead of second placed Dohyeon Kim and third placed Kibeom Kwon. He also topped the podium in Boulder ahead of second placed Jongwon Chon and third placed Yunchan Song.
In the Speed competition, Jimin Jeong won the women’s title and Sangwon Choi won the men’s. Hanareum Sung took silver ahead of bronze medallist Jimin Hwang in the women’s competition with Yongsu Lee taking silver in the men’s ahead of Minsu Kang who took bronze.
The event was held as both a National Championship and a selection event for athletes who will compete in the Asian Championships with the South Korean 2026 national team selected based on the results of the Asian Championships.
Although not competing in Gunsan, Lead world champion Lee Dohyun, alongside Seo and Jeong, had already secured their spots at the Asian Games 2026 and therefore already been selected as national team members for the upcoming World Climbing Series season.
