CLIMBING CONFIRMED FOR THE WORLD GAMES KARLSRUHE 2029

Multi-sport event set for 19 to 29 July with diverse and innovative programme

Climbing has been confirmed in the sports programme for The World Games 2029, set to take place in Karlsruhe, Germany, from 19 to 29 July, following ratification by the International World Games Association at its Annual General Meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland, on 25 April 2026.

The inclusion marks the seventh consecutive edition for Climbing at The World Games since its debut in 2005, underlining the sport's continued presence within one of the world’s largest multi-sport events, expected to gather around 4,000 athletes from more than 100 countries.

At the previous edition in 2025, Climbing was contested exclusively in Speed, where the four-lane format made its official international debut. The same format will also feature at three World Climbing Series events in 2026, including stops in Krakow, Poland; Guiyang, China; and Chongqing, China.

Further details on disciplines and medal events will be confirmed in a second phase later in 2026.
