World Climbing has confirmed that Fukuoka, Japan, will host a double-header of competitions from 5 to 8 November 2026, bringing together the final event of the World Climbing Para Series and the World Climbing Nations Grand Finale.

Following the success of last year’s event – when Fukuoka hosted the Nations Grand Finale alongside a Para Climbing showcase – the city will stage the fifth and final Para Series event of 2026 on 5 and 6 November. The five-event calendar represents a record number of international Para Climbing competitions in a single season.

Fukuoka joins Salt Lake City, USA; Innsbruck, Austria; Laval, France; and Gunsan, South Korea, as host cities on this year’s Para Series calendar, reflecting the sport’s continued global expansion ahead of its Paralympic debut at LA28.

RETURN OF THE NATIONS GRAND FINALE

The World Climbing Nations Grand Finale will return to Fukuoka on 7 and 8 November. The format brings together strategy, team performance and international rivalry, with invitations extended to the top six nations in the 2025 team rankings. A roll-down system will apply should any invited teams be unable to attend.

In 2025, host nation Japan won the Boulder competition, while South Korea claimed the Lead title. The event also featured fan-focused activities, including educational sessions and Para Climbing exhibitions, as well as a Speed Boulder format that engaged athletes and spectators alike.

JAPANESE FANS SET FOR A DOUBLE BILL

The double-header will give Fukuoka’s Climbing community the opportunity to see leading athletes in both Climbing and Para Climbing, while supporting Japan’s national teams on home soil.
