Austria Climbing changes its governance
Michael Öckher, World Climbing Medical and Anti-Doping Commission member, is the newly elected President of Austria Climbing after an extraordinary General Assembly and board elections on 7 March.
After two decades of leadership, long-standing President Dr. Eugen Burtscher and his board decided to step down and hand over their responsibilities which prompted the vote.
The newly elected board consists of:
- President: Michael Öckher
- Vice President Federation Development: Inge Sterrer
- Vice President Finance: Manuel Mair
- Vice President Sports & Events: Lena Gasser
- Vice President Governance & Administration: Peter Klaunzer
In addition, other important federation bodies – the Disciplinary Commission, the Arbitration Board, and the Auditors – were also newly elected during the General Assembly.
The focus of the new board is to lead the Federation responsibly into a successful future while continuing the strong, trustful, and collegial collaboration with international partners and World Climbing.
