The World Climbing Asia Championship Meishan 2025 takes place from 8-12 April with some of the biggest names in climbing taking part, and you can watch it live on the World Climbing Asia YouTube channel
Olympic and world champions are among over 200 names on the startlists across the three core disciplines, so the competition for podium places will be hot.
In Speed, Indonesia’s Paris 2024 men’s gold medallist Leonardo Veddriq will be in action with former world champion Desak Dewi leading the charge for the women.
Some of the home nation climbers like men’s world champion Long Jianguo and women’s Olympic medallist Deng Lijuan will be among a very strong Chinese Speed team with World Cup winner in 2024, Pan Yufei, in the Boulder and Lead team.
Pan will have to go up against the likes of Sorato Anraku and Lee Dohyun who have been fighting for podiums on a consistent basis over the past few seasons and are also part of very strong national teams.
Anraku is joined by the likes of Tomoa Narasaki who competes in Boulder and Satone Yoshida in Lead, but there is also Speed interest with Ryo Omasa among a host of Japanese climbers.
Some of the names for the Japanese women; Miho Nonaka and Mao Nakamura will take on South Korean climbers like Seo Chaehyun and Jain Kim with Jimin Jeong competing in Speed.
When you talk about Speed in Asia you also have the likes of Kazakhstan who have Olympians Rishat Khaibullin and Amir Maimuratov in their ranks, and you can’t discount some of the other 16 nations to mix it with the best with climbers like Thailand’s Auswin Aueareechit having medals on the world stage.
Aueareechit won the Asian Youth Boulder Championship last year and took home bronze from the Youth World Championships but will need to step it up in the senior competition.
You can watch all the action from semi-finals and finals for Boulder and Lead, while the finals will be live for Speed.
