Seven new climbers will make their debut as we return to Guiyang for the second successive year
The World Climbing Series Guiyang 2026 is the 428th World Cup or World Climbing Series event in history, as well as the 150th Speed competition for both women and men. It is the second event to be held in Guiyang and the 47th in China.
A total of 101 athletes from 24 nations across five continents are registered to compete, with seven climbers set to make their debut on the World Climbing Series stage.
ATHLETES’ HIGHLIGHTS
France’s Capucine Viglione attends her 29th World Climbing Series level event, followed by Italy’s Guila Randi and USA’s Sophia Curcio on 27 appearances. Curcio’s USA teammate and first sub-6 female Emma Hunt attends her 26th event.
For the men, Italy’s Ludovico Fossali has the most experience in the field as he attends his 58th World Climbing Series level event – making him sixth on the all-time list of attendances for men’s Speed. Iran’s Reza Alipour Shenazandifard attends his 47th World Climbing Series event.
All three of the men who won Speed at the World Youth Championships Guiyang 2024 will participate – France’s Jérôme Morel, China’s Shouhong Chu and teammate Yicheng Zhao.
