Indonesia 1 converted its top seeding into gold in the Speed Mixed Relay final at the World Climbing Series Guiyang 2026, with Raharjati Nursamsa and Rajiah Sallsabillah producing the fastest time of the night to take victory ahead of China 2.

The Indonesian pair, who entered the finals as the fastest team from qualification, stopped the clock at an impressive 11.35 seconds in the gold medal race to secure the country's first place on the top step of the podium in Guiyang, China.

"I'm very happy and very grateful. This gold medal is for all the people of Indonesia," Nursamsa said.

Sallsabillah was equally delighted with the result, especially after the pair finished fourth at the previous four-lane event in Krakow, Poland.

"We finished fourth in Krakow and now this gold medal feels great. We'll try to win another gold next week in Chongqing!"

The victory marks Indonesia's second gold medal in Guiyang, following Antasyafi Robby Al Hilmi's triumph in the men's Speed individual event on the opening night of competition.

China 2, represented by Zhang Mengli and Zhou Ziyu, claimed silver after reaching the gold medal race. The home team was unable to match Indonesia's pace, finishing in 14.85 seconds after a mistake at the beginning of Zhou's second climb.

HUNT AND WATSON RETURN TO THE PODIUM

USA 1 took bronze through Samuel Watson and Emma Hunt, adding another medal to their impressive record in the four-lane format.

The American pair, who won the previous four-lane event in Krakow earlier this season, defeated France's Jérôme Morel and Capucine Viglione in the bronze medal race. Watson and Hunt clocked 11.85 seconds to comfortably secure third place, with France 1 team finishing in 13.40.

The men's and women's Speed Relays will close the programme tomorrow, with the former starting at 11:00 (UTC+8:00) and the latter at 12:50. The Speed Relay finals will bring the event to a close at 20:00.
