The World Climbing Europe Series continued in Žilina, Slovakia, with a Speed competition in the adult category, across both the men’s and women’s fields
WOMEN’S SPEED
Polina Khalkevych of Ukraine won the women’s gold in 6.67, the fastest time recorded across the women’s final. Teammate Mariia Shymkova took silver in 7.47, giving Ukraine both of the top two spots. Poland’s Magdalena Blachnicka completed the podium with bronze in 7.71, after winning the small final race with her teammate, Anna Brozek, who placed fourth in 8.92.
Ukraine’s depth in the discipline was evident beyond the podium as well, with Kseniia Horielova and Daria Tkachova finishing fifth and sixth respectively.
MEN’S SPEED
Switzerland’s Gilles Meili won the men’s gold in 5.01, following his silver-medal finish at the previous stop in St. Pölten. Switzerland's young athlete is showing strong consistency, having recorded the fastest time of the event just one week after the competition in St. Pölten.
France’s Jérôme Morel took silver in 6.27, with Italy’s Gian Luca Zodda claiming bronze in 6.38.
