AMON WINS HOME GOLD; MARTÍNEZ VIDAL TAKES SECOND WIN IN A ROW

The World Climbing Europe Series continued in St. Pölten, Austria, with a Speed competition in the adult category, across both the men's and women's fields

AMON DELIVERS FOR THE HOME CROWD

Kevin Amon of Austria took the men's gold in 5.00, with an outstanding performance on home ground and a continuation of the form he showed at the World Climbing Series stop in Chamonix earlier this month, where he clocked a personal best of 5.03 seconds. Switzerland's Gilles Meili took silver in 5.08, while France's Jérôme Morel completed the podium in 5.18.

Meili's finish continues a strong run of results on the European circuit, having also featured on the podium in Barcelona, where he took silver behind Ukraine's Hryhorii Ilchyshyn. It capped a remarkable weekend for the Swiss athlete, who a day before claimed gold in the Men's U19 Speed final - meaning Meili medalled in both the Youth and Senior categories at the same event.
