Tkachova and Garnier win gold as Leipzig closes the European season

Ukraine’s Daria Tkachova and France’s Marceau Garnier took the Speed titles at the final World Climbing Europe Series event of 2026

The World Climbing Europe Series 2026 concluded in Leipzig, Germany, with closely contested Speed finals. Spain and Ukraine each claimed two medals.

UKRAINE PLACES TWO CLIMBERS ON WOMEN’S PODIUM

Ukraine’s Daria Tkachova won gold in 7.88 seconds, finishing ahead of Poland’s Magdalena Blachnicka, who stopped the clock at 8.58. The victory adds to Tkachova’s bronze medal from St. Pölten, Austria, earlier this year.

Blachnicka improved on her previous podium result, stepping up from bronze in Žilina, Slovakia, to silver in Leipzig.

Ukraine’s Mariia Shymkova, who won silver in Žilina, returned to the podium in third place. She clocked 7.58 to narrowly beat teammate Sofiia Tulchynska’s 7.63.

GARNIER TAKES GOLD, SPAIN GETS SILVER AND BRONZE

France’s Marceau Garnier won the men’s Speed event in 4.99 seconds, beating Spain’s Miguel Gómez Barrios by five hundredths of a second in the gold-medal race.

Gómez Barrios had earlier set a personal best of 4.96 in his semi-final against France’s Jérôme Morel, becoming the second Spanish climber to break the five-second barrier after Erik Noya.

Spain secured another medal through Alberto García Rodríguez de Sepúlveda, whose 5.49 edged Morel’s 5.50 in the bronze-medal race.
